Humanitarian Service

A humanitarian is someone devoted to the promotion of human welfare and to social reforms. It is marked by humanistic values and dedication to human well being. Service on the other hand is a work carried out by one person or group that benefits another. It can also be referred to as performance of duties or provision of space and equipment helpful to others. Simply put, whatever work or activity that you render for the benefit of mankind is called service. Services are either voluntary or involuntary.

Voluntary services are services you do out of your own free will, or making or design. It is done by choice, and not out of compulsion or force. It is usually done when someone sees a need and takes it upon his/her self to offer a hand of help or services without being compelled to do so.

Involuntary services are services that are not subject to the control of the will. It is a service that is against your will. That is to say that it's a service whereby you don't have a choice than to do it, especially when you have been paid to carry out such services. Either ways, whether it is voluntary or involuntary service, services are ment to be satisfactory.

There's an adage that says: what goes around, comes around! For every humanitarian service you offer, somehow, it comes back to you. There are a lot of humanitarian services that one can render depending on the capabilities and resources of such persons. Examples are: Taking up the responsibility of footing the bills or sponsoring the education of someone or persons who cannot afford one. Another one could be in the form of admitting some persons into some skilled work where such persons can be properly trained until he/she is fit to take off(spread). It could be advocating for people who don't have what it takes or the means to do so. It could also come in the form of care or benevolence to the motherless babies home or widows etc. It can come in the form of community development such as construction of roads, basic amenities: water supply, food, shelter, electricity, education...

With humanitarian services, you can start from where you are. Charity they say begins at home.
