People Will Always Be People

The word people suggest any group of human beings(men or women or children) collectively. People form the integral part of the human life. It doesn't only make life worthwhile, but makes life go round. We talk with people. We live among people. We work with people. We transact business with people..., and we rapport with people. We cannot avoid people no matter how hard we try, because people have roles to play in whatever we do.

However, before the advent of the word people, the individual existed which is you. In other words, there can never be people without the individual (you), just the way we cannot count two without starting from one.

Perhaps, we need to examine or state categorically what makes up the word people or from what number does the word people begin to count. Simply put, once you have two or more persons, it is automatically called people. So if we do the maths, the equation would be: you + you = people.

I've always heard some persons attach so much importance to the word people as if the individual never existed or as if people are the final bus stop. What a misnomer!

You don't know the strong by the people around such persons alone. You know the strong by the ability to remain firm whether there are people around such persons or not. In fact you really know the strong by his/her ability to stand alone against all odds. Not that such persons desire to stand alone, but that the circumstance at such moment requires that such person(s) takes a bold or brave step.

In life, there would be times when life would shake you a bit. Then it would become very clear that people would always be people. Some would misunder you. Some would say false things about you. Some will leave you alone. Some will turn you down... And then it would just be you and the whole wide world. So are you going to give in or throw in the towel because the people that should be by you cannot be found. At such moment would life require that you draw from your inside. Only then would you realise that before the people existed, you were in existence, and that there is nothing within your capacity you cannot handle if you are determined.

This is not to play down on the importance of people in your life because you need people to get to where you need to be in life. The emphasis here, is to draw the line between you and the people, and to place the people where they belong. Remember, people will always be people.
