The Tongue

The tongue is the smallest part of the body system and also one of the five sense organs we have, as it is responsible for taste. To describe the tongue, one can say that the tongue, is a mobile mass of mascular tissue covered with mucous membrane and located in the oral cavity. Small, you would say but powerful as you can never underestimate the power and display of the tongue.

If there's anything to be careful about, it is the tongue. It can destroy things within a second, and it can build up again. It can add fuel to fire, and it can add water to drought. It can bring down a house that is united if not checked. It can ruin marriages if not controlled. It can make cold good time relationships if not seasoned. It can turn homes upsidedown if not placed in order. It can make people fight before they realise that there is actually nothing to fight about. It can create enemity between two brothers or sisters who love themselves very much if not tamed. It can cause darkness, and it can give light. It can kill and it can make alive. It can make broken and it can mend the broken. It can make you cry and it can make you laugh. It can make your spirit low and it can uplift your spirit. It can make one fail and it can make one pass his/her examinations. It can discredit and it can commend (credit) you.

Do I hear that the tongue is small? Other parts of the body can easily be tamed but the tongue needs special attention. The tongue needs conscious, deliberate attempt to ensure effective taming. First, it has to start from the mind.

As he thinks in his heart, so is he... The tongue functions hand in hand with the mind. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Sometimes, I ask myself, why do people get irrational at times, and I am like why can't certain people just learn how to control their tongue until a matter gets out of hand? Look no further, it begins with the mind. Whatever you want to speak about has first registered in the mind, and has been processed before it comes out of the mouth.

Some other times, some people don't think or reason before they talk. They feel its their right to talk any how, as some of them had tagged it freedom of speech. But the so called freedom of speech is a right of expression restricted by the rights of other persons. So it is adviceable that before anyone speaks, such person (s) should think properly and reason out facts, what you call common sense before dishing it out, so as not to create more problems than they already existed.

Knowing when to resolve or create a balance as we go about certain findings, quest..., lies in the power of your mind and tongue. So I would rather use my tongue wisely and enjoy its fruits than otherwise...It doesn't take anything from you to use the tongue wisely but takes a lot when used inappropriately.
