Acknowledgements

No amount of sentiment can outshine anything worthwhile. Give it names but it still doesn't change the fact that it is worthwhile (+ Uche Adiogu).

Acknowledgement is the state or quality of being recognised. In other words, it is a way of saying that something is true or admitting the existence or reality or truth of a particular thing, event or occurrence.

Acknowledgements as a quality of being recognised is an unbiased state of declaring that something or somebody is worth an approval, applaud, award, honor etc, whether you like such thing, person..., or not. Most of the time, we let sentiments get in the way when making certain commendations. Everybody wants what will benefit them but nobody is asking whether the benefits are appropriate or suitable at such times, or whether such individual, person (s), people or group of people on which certain conferments are made, are the ones suitable for such conferments.

What do we see today? People recommending their own for a given position or conferment knowing  fully well that such persons are not fit to handle such positions or conferment. Off course, what do you expect these categories of persons to do? They go there with a different mindset. A mindset to get what they can acquire, and not what the conferment requires of them. It's no longer a new thing as it has spread all over the places to the extent that some people are beginning to see it as a way of life.

The latest is the term: "Fighting corruption", and you begin to ask what is this corruption we are fighting when the people fighting corruption is corrupt one way or the other. No doubts! It is good to uphold integrity, as well as combat corruption where found. But the emphasis here is what are we looking at as corruption? Is it an opposition between two parties because they don't like themselves or the mere intent of doing the right thing. The clearer these things are spelt out, the more results it achieve.

First, it starts from the home front. Charity, they say begins at home. Teaching children how to imbibe good  morals such as: don't covet what belongs to another; don't steal; be of good conduct; render services to humanity when you can without expecting anything in return; don't join bad gangs; don't be influenced by negative people when you find yourself in their midst, instead be the influencer; report anything strange you feel is not worthwhile rather than be part of it, and so on and so forth.

Until we start from the grassroot (basics) certain things are bound to continue because the corrupt rich in quote wants to get richer while the untrained poor in quote, once he/she sees an opportunity, corruption becomes a choice embrace. Instilling the right virtues is not what somebody wakes up suddenly and starts to do. It starts with the little habits, attitude, behavioural tendencies, conduct, routines, activities..., we indulge in. To wrap it up, whatever that is conferred on you, if it is not ment for you, instead of adding to you, only takes away from you. Acknowledgements are not signs of weakness but strength. When you see something worthy of recognition and you approve of it whether you like the person or not, it only reveals how matured you are. #Recognition #Admitting #Approval #Award #Honour #Recommendation #Acknowledgements #Different mindset #Corruption.
